BEATTOCK VILLAGE HALL is routinely used for Community Council meetings, and is hired by groups for Yoga, Toddlers Play Group, Scottish Woman’s Institute, Exhibitions and Presentations.  It can be hired for Birthday Parties,  Anniversary Parties, Weddings, Ceilidhs, Dances and prior to the pandemic hosted Bingo, Scottish Country Dancing, Keep Fit,  Zumba, Lunch Club, Coffee Mornings, Afternoon Teas, Whist Drives, Jumble Sales, Carpet Bowling, Youth Club, Dog Training, Fetes, Bring and Buy, Musical and Theatre productions, also annual events such as the over 60’s Christmas lunch which was funded by the Community Council for local residents, it is hoped that grants will be made available to encourage the return of many of these events to the Village Hall.  If there is an event you would like to hold in the hall, please ask us, so we can help you arrange it.

THE HERITAGE PARK –  We planted a selection of fruit trees prior to the pandemic with the aim of having an orchard for the village. We plan to add a few more trees in the near future.  We also made the pond area more sustainable and cleared some of the surrounding area.  We are in the process of arranging new fencing, to give dog owners a larger area to allow their dogs to exercise off lead.

BEATTOCK PLAY PARK – D&G Council replaced some of the children’s play equipment prior to the pandemic, and since then KJCC with grant funding have recently added two sets of outdoor gym equipment, one for young people and one for adults. Disappointingly there are still no football team matches being played at the moment, although there are plenty young people playing football and rugby in the park. Most of the trees that were planted by local school children along the area between the football pitch and the railway banking as part of their 20 for 2020 initiative continue to grow, although some may have suffered from damage from the huge number of rabbits, badgers etc. that have taken a liking to the Play Park.

BEATTOCK RAILWAY STATION – As part of the Beattock Station Action Group – See https://www.beattockstationactiongroup.org.uk

We have been actively supporting the re-opening of the railway station and campaigning in every way possible to make this a reality. The benefit to our community and those in neighbouring areas will be immense. The process has seen a number of changes and revisions which, along with Covid-19, have resulted in frustrating delays. We will continue our support and hope that you will join us.
