The main residential area of Kirkpatrick Juxta Community Council area is the village of Beattock which grew in the 19th Century when the Caledonian Railway line from Carlisle to Glasgow was built. Beattock Station opened in 1847 for passengers wishing to alight further north. From 1883 a passenger service was in place at Beattock station where passengers changed trains to go to Moffat. The Beattock to Moffat Branch Line opened to passengers in April 1883 and in 1890 Moffat became a popular Spa Town with up to 12 trains a day each way. The passenger service ended in 1954 with the closure of Moffat Station. Beattock Station, which closed in 1972, was situated at the north of the main street. We are pushing to reopen Beattock Station

Solar Panels and ground sourced heat pump provide 24 hour 7 days constant temperature of 20 degrees C to promote use of the hall as a comfortable place to meet year round.
Who are we?
Kirkpatrick Juxta Community Council (KJCC) is made up of a group of elected residents who volunteer their time to attend meetings, liaise with Dumfries & Galloway Council, other local groups & agencies, other local Community Councils.
We combine with other Community Councils to manage the distribution of community benefit grants from windfarm developments in the area that provide funding for local groups and individuals to improve local areas.
Elections are held every 5 years and we are able to co-opt new members between elections so please come along to our meetings or speak to us if you want to find out more about what is involved.
We are in the fortunate position in that we own the Village Hall, the Heritage park at the rear of the hall and the play park. We ensure that these village assets are available and maintained for the benefit of local residents.
